We are excited to announce that the Data Curation Network will collaborate with Duke University and other DCN members on an Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS) Grant to support the development of specialized curriculum for data curation training for academic library and archives staff. This project will draw together DCN members and others across the library and archives community to create in-depth and customized training and resources in geospatial, scientific images, code, and simulation data. This will build on the previous IMLS Workshop grant, and will include expanding the CURATE(D) workflow, developing tailored curation guidance, and fostering community engagement around these data types.
Sophia Lafferty-Hess, Principal Investigator, writes:
“This work will build on the existing DCN workshop curriculum and primer project to prioritize ethical, equitable, and accessible considerations for research data curation. This grant allows us to host a pilot workshop to assess the workshop materials, build knowledge and strengthen community engagement. The team will also make the resulting educational materials openly accessible online for future use and adaptation.”
The Data Curation Network will be recruiting members from the library and archives community to join cohorts to develop the new curriculum materials and take part in an instructional knowledge network. Please keep an eye out for our call in the coming months!
